Type 16-2 gas springs are hydropneumatic components consisting of a pressure cylinder and a piston rod with a piston.
Nitrogen is used as the working gas in type 16-2 springs. When compressed, the nitrogen generates pressure acting on the piston, providing the force necessary for the return movement of the piston rod.
The oil in the gas spring chamber and the damping system control the extension speed of the piston rod.
